When I first realized I wanted to open my own boutique I was a sophomore in High School. I was in a marketing class and my teacher (Shoutout DLog!) had us create our own business along with a marketing plan. I named the boutique "Landon and Carter", a name made up from my best friends baby name list. Creating that assignment opened the door to where I am today. I graduated high school in 2018 and now, as a 20 year old college student, I am finally living my dream. My mother asked me the other day, "Is this a job or a hobby?". To be honest with you, it's neither. It's a passion. When your job is your passion you'll never work a day in your life.
What NYA Believes
When I first began this journey, I wanted to chose a name for my company that represented me in the best way possible. My entire life I have been a very independent person and have refused to rely on someone else for anything. When I was younger I was in a relationship where he was my happiness and I put that on him, only to be wrecked when he was no longer around. I cried on the couch for a week straight until my best friend finally said, "Get the fuck up and stop crying". Since then I have made it a point to never place my happiness in someone else's hands. Happiness comes from within. Not Yours is my way of sharing that we as women do not belong to anyone, I would love to be a housewife just as much as others but I LOVE making a name for MYSELF. I do not belong to anyone and my happiness is my own decision. Confidence comes with happiness and the clothing I wear makes me confident. I hope to bring that same feeling to others through my clothing while simultaneously spreading the message of confidence and independence.
